Nestled on the west coast of Mauritius, not far from the charming village of Tamarin,La Preneuse public beach is an unspoilt gem, combining golden sands, turquoise waters and breathtaking scenery. La Preneuse seduces with itsshallow lagoon protected by a coral reef, making it the perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling (fins and mask recommended) or simply relaxing. The fine sand, shaded by filaos (tropical pines), is ideal for family picnics or siestas under the Mauritian sun.

A place steeped in history

This beach is best known for being home tothe last French cannon in Mauritiusa remnant of the naval battle of Grand Port (1810) between the French and British. Nearby, theMartello Tower (a national heritage site) bears witness to the island's colonial history. These elements add a unique cultural touch to a day at the beach.

How do I get there?

Located around 30 minutes from Port-Louis and 45 minutes from Flic-en-Flac, the beach is accessible by car (follow "La Preneuse Public Beach") or cab. Local buses also serve the coastal road (stop at Tamarin).
