When and where does the Caudan Night Run take place?
The Caudan Night Run takes place on saturday August 22, 2026, in the evening. THE departure and arrival are set at the Allée des Artistes, at the Caudan Waterfront, on the seafront of Port-Louis, which serves as a gathering point and racing village.
Running at night changes the experience completely: the heat of the day has subsided, the city is lit, and the sites crossed are revealed in an atmosphere that visitors rarely see. Port-Louis, best known for its daytime activity, lends itself here to an unusual discovery.
Two distances: 5 and 10 kilometers
Two routes are offered, with staggered departures: the 10 kilometers starts at 6:45 p.m. and the 5 kilometers at 7 p.m.. Both loops leave and return to the Caudan Waterfront.
This two-distance formula allows varied profiles to participate: the 10 km is aimed more at regular runners, while the 5 km is suitable for a wider audience, including those who want above all to enjoy the atmosphere and discover the city rather than perform.
Categories and ranking
Each distance is divided into age categories:
- 5 km (from 8 years old): Kids (8-11 years old), Junior (12-19 years old), Senior (20-39 years old), Veteran (40 years old and over).
- 10 km (from 12 years old): Junior (12-19 years old), Senior (20-39 years old), Veteran (40 years old and over).
A scratch ranking rewards the first three men and the first three women over each of the two distances.
A journey through the heritage of Port-Louis
The route connects the most emblematic sites of the capital: the route starts from the Caudan Waterfront and passes through the Place d'Armes, the Company Garden, the Port-Louis Theater, the Citadel (Fort Adelaide), the Field of Mars, Mary Queen of Peace, there kwan Tee Pagoda and Odysseo, before returning to the starting point.
This is what distinguishes the Caudan Night Run from a classic race: each landmark on the route tells a piece of the history of Port-Louis. The Place d'Armes and its row of royal palm trees open the city from the port; the Company Garden keeps its century-old banyan trees; the Citadel dominates the capital from its hill; the Champ de Mars, one of the oldest racecourses in the southern hemisphere, borders the historic center. The route thus mixes colonial architecture and multicultural heritage, from the administrative center to places of worship.
More than a Race: a night experience
Beyond the stopwatch, the event presents itself as an immersive cultural experience. Along the route, participants come across live music, artistic performances, street art and light installations which transform the streets of the capital into an open-air stage.
The party continues after the effort: post-race entertainment (music and celebration) is planned from 8 p.m., once the runners return to the Caudan Waterfront.
The idea is to (re)discover Port-Louis differently: not the city of offices and markets during the day, but a lively capital in the evening, highlighted and punctuated by the race. For a visitor, this is an unusual opportunity to see the city center from this perspective.
An event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Caudan Waterfront
The Caudan Night Run is part of the celebrations of 30 years of Caudan Waterfront. Opened in 1996, this waterfront complex has accompanied the transformation of Port-Louis, becoming a place where shops, culture, heritage, gastronomy and leisure intersect.
